The Box Lady!

Yes, I admit it. I am a box lady. I just can't help myself. It seems no matter where I go they call out to me. I have them everywhere. Most are for storage, some just because I couldn't resist. Even my children have fancy hat boxes to store their toys and books. So when it came to Make Mine Pink's, Pink Friday this week, I was thinking of gift baskets and gift boxes came to mind. I am thinking in addition to baskets, it would be fun to have a few gift sets in a fancy box as well. Here are a few pictures of three boxes/trunks I acquired this week. I really have to stop this. I am running out of room! I may be willing to part with one this Friday chocked full of goodies of course. We did a little early pumpkin party this weekend with friends. Here are a few shots of the kiddies having fun. Have a wonderful week and a Happy Halloween!

Show and Tell Monday!

Hello everyone! I feel like lately I am bursting with ideas and trying my best to get them put into action before they disappear. This past week I really divided my time between three things; marketing, organizing and getting ready for Christmas. It was busy but now I feel like I am ready to surge ahead and get back to the fun part- creating! Ok, here is a little sample of what I have been working on.

I made some glass ornaments with bits of ephemera, lace jewelry and various little trinkets. They are such fun. The hard part is photographing them without too much of a glare. I'm not sure if the pictures really do them justice. The first one is called My First Christmas. The next is called Nesting, it may be hard to see but there is a little bird and egg inside. They really are such fun to make.

I also have been working on some new gift tag designs for Christmas. Here are the front and back. I am going to do them in coordinating sets. Well, I will keep it short and sweet! Thanks for visiting and have a lovely day!

Show and Tell - A Day at the Flea

Happy Monday All! This weekend we spent our Sunday at the Rose Bowl Flea Market. I have to say, I only live about 15 min. away and I haven't been since I was a kid. It was a beautiful day, cool for us, upper 60's with a slight breeze. I wasn't sure what to expect. I have been to antique malls and such but this was such a mixed bag. Unfortunately I was only able to get a few shots then my camera battery died. However here are my musing on the trip.

I have to say, hands down the best deals were on furniture. Amazing pieces. . . we found a huge shabby dining room table and chairs that would seat 8-10 people for only $300. We wanted it sooo bad, even my DH loved it. We did not however have the truck with us. We didn't go planning to buy anything big but in the future we know where to go for furnishings. I also spotted an amazing over sized bench with a beautiful cushion that was white and could easily seat 6. It was under $100. I saw this same bench at an antique store down the street a month ago for over $500.

This is where it gets interesting. Now I am a bargain shopper by nature. However if there is something that is truly worth it I will pay the price. There were many booths with shabby style items/furniture. The prices were crazy! The smallest home accent or trinket averaged $40 and up. I kept telling my DH, I would rather do my shopping from Make Mine Pink get pretty packaging and extras to boot! I picked up a mini pink wire dress form (6 inches maybe) for jewelry and it was $65! I don't know why all the cottage style items were so high. It made me wonder what prices were like at flea markets around the U.S. Are the high prices just a so. cal thing?

I did snag a few deals. I got a bag of cigar boxes for pennies and some l
ace and costume jewelry. I also found some great Christmas ornaments for a steal. I got a few other yummy things I will keep to myself for now! I went looking for vintage papers, unique trinkets and holiday items and there just weren't many to find, or the few they had were outrageous. Am I being unrealistic with my pricing? I don't expect something for nothing but over $30 for a little bag of regular ol' buttons seems a bit crazy to me.

All in all it was a fun day, the kids had a great time and I did find out about some other great flea markets around so cal that I am planning to hit up in the coming months. Thanks so much for visiting and have a wonderful week!

Show and Tell Monday

I can't believe October is here already! This is one of my favorite times of year. We spent the weekend decorating for Halloween and now I need to get started sewing the kids costumes. My DD wants to be Peter Pan. She is so funny, no Tinkerbelle for her, and I just happen to have a pattern for it. My son wants to be Mario from the video game Mario Brothers. We will be hitting the pumpkin patch soon which is such fun. Ok, time to share what I have been busy creating. This week I spent time getting ready for the Pink October Shop Hop. As I showed last week I made a few more pink ribbon tags and also some miniature inspiration boards for your desk. I also made a full size inspiration board and my partner in crime made a lovely pillar candle holder. As you can tell, I have been in a pink mood lately which is a good thing! Everything shown today is currently available on my site.
Thanks so much for visiting and have a wonderful week!
