New This Week!

We have so many new paper creations this week! I couldn't wait to share a few of them with you. These pretty pinkish tags are so dreamy.

We loved this paper so much we had to make another Marie journal with it. This one is for Pink Friday's Pretty Pillows and Purses this week.

It has a little, tiny copper purse on the front cover. We hope you will join us and all the boutiques of Make Mine Pink this week. Click here to see what's new this Friday!

A Break to Recharge

I know from time to time we all need a little break to recharge our batteries. Well, after a long, busy, fun week I was ready to disconnect for a few days. Without thinking I walked over to the bookshelf and grabbed my old standby. I wonder if we all have one of those? A book that we go to every few years or so. It brings comfort, and even though you know the ending, you get whisked away into another time . . anticipating perhaps something different may happen this time in the end. While this isn't your typical feel good, happy ending story, it is one of my favorites. Come to think of it, my favorite stories have always been a little "dark." This has been my go to book since I first read it many years ago as a student. Kate Chopin has always been a favorite author of mine as well . . a woman in many ways ahead of her time. So I have spent the last few days, book in hand, letting my creative mind rest a bit.

Now as a new week is about to begin. I feel clear headed, ready to work on some of the projects which have been resting on my work table.

Included in my stash are these bright, bubble gum colored tinsels that just called out to me. I can't wait to see what becomes of them. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find some time and a special book to help you recharge in the midst of a long, hot summer.

Pink Saturday

Happy Pink Saturday! I want to thank Beverly of How Sweet The Sound for letting me be a part of such a fun event. I really enjoyed it last week. Although I wasn't able to leave everyone a comment I did my best to visit the amazing blogs that participated and was wowed by such a beautiful flurry of pink!

Well, looking back over the week I think I did my pink post already. lol If you scroll down a bit you will see a sea of pink trees. Christmas came a bit early, too early for me I think, but it was fun looking ahead at the direction I want to go in this year.
Well, getting back to my post. This week I wanted to share one of my new "stuffed" tags. I stitched fabric onto paper covered tags and filled them with a few of my favorite things. Bits of vintage lace and trims, flowers, buttons and even a little bird made its way in.

Somehow this vintage salt shaker made its way in too. I couldn't resist it for my buttons. It has just the right amount of tarnish and had to have pretty pink seam binding of course. Thanks so much for visiting. I can't wait to stop by and see what everyone has this week. Have a wonderful weekend!

Tuesday Treasures

Well I'm a little late today with my Tuesday treasure for the week, but better late than not at all. I wanted to share something new I can't wait to use. These great alphabet flash cards can be made into so many things. I plan on distressing them a bit and making a garland with a few of them. With any luck I will have a picture to share tomorrow. Until next time . . .

The Little Things

This weekend I was packing up orders and thought I would share a few of the things I like to include for my customers. I know when I shop it's always nice to open a package and find a special treat inside. It really is the little things that can mean so much, from the presentation and wrapping. . . to letting people know you appreciate their business.

So . . here goes, I like my work space to be pretty. This is just an old coffee can I wrapped up a bit and inside are my customer discounts I give. I wrapped some seam binding around a popsicle stick or skewer and added a little yo yo or embellishment at the top with a discount card.

These are library pockets that I filled with goodies as a free gift for shopping.
Just a little something I thought I'd share. Hope you find pleasure in the little things too.

Down The Rabbit Hole

This week I wanted to put a little piece of my collection into one of my creations. For a long time I have been enchanted with Alice in Wonderland.

It started when I was a child with a very old copy that was my mothers. I have always enjoyed the original drawings in many of the early copies, including those of Lewis Carroll. Here is a picture of the "real Alice" in a new vintage trunk I embellished. It is an envelope with drawings and pictures form the story.

Though I didn't photograph any pieces from my collection for this post I did want to share this perfectly distressed trunk with you. I will perhaps save "Alice" for another post, another day. .

This, along with many new treasures are available this Friday at Noelle Garrett Designs. Please join us for Pink Friday's Red, White and Blue, and Friday Flea Market as well. Have a wonderful holiday!
